ECO TIME RADIO CONTENT CREATION

16th to 22nd of May 2011 in Marija Bistrica and Zabok, Croatia.

Participating artists: Jonhatan Prior, Kruno Jost, Barbara Huber, Sonja Fures, Michal Cudrnak, Martina Kedrova, Juraj Kovac, Reni Hofmueller, Mimoza Vuthaj.

Participating artists at conference: Ivan Ladislav Galeta, Elinor Nina Czegledy,

a COL-ME and UKE workshop about time, history, audio, ecology, locality and an Eco-Time Conference on time/eco production/new media art.

This workshop concentrates on the creation of a very concrete piece within the TIK Radio happenings. We settled the workshop on purpose outside of a big city to explore different times detached from the hurly-burly of cities.

The focus of the workshop is on listening, recording and processing audio into one concrete piece. Johnatan Prior from Edinburgh will lead the workshop on alternative walks for museums. We will be recording at localized “time capsule”, a nearby historical “Neanderthal Museum” for this workshop and create an audio walk that includes time line from pre-historical times to nowadays, using a museum as inspiration.
Thus the workshop is addressed to people with recording and audio-editing experiences who want to enhance their skills in field recordings and alternative and experimental recording approaches.

The third Eco-Time Conference will follow up with Croatian and foreign artists dealing with questions of nature/ecology/time and new media art. The conference will focus on local ecological production of grapes, centuries old open green technology for wine production with pre – Greek tradition in this areas.

“Wine has a rich history dating back thousands of years, with the earliest known production occurring around 8000 BC on the territory of modern-day Georgia. It first appeared in the Balkans at about 4500 BC and was very common in ancient Greece, Thrace and Rome.” (Wikipedia)

Taking a philosophical turn within the ecological approaches, we invite Ladislav Galeta, infamous new media artist from Zagreb who also translated “The Philosophy of Wine” from Béla Hamvas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%A9la_Hamvas), to give an artist talk on permaculture production and art. Johnatan Prior will have an artist talk on audio walks and sound ecologies. Nina Czegledy and Erika Pasztor will give insights into ecological media art concerning food and the question why food is important. Reni Hofmuller will talk about ecology and media art in the form of how we work together.

This workshop is a collaboration between COL-ME, Slovakia and UKE, Croatia. It will take place in Marija Bistrica, Krapin and Zabok in North Croatia from the 16th of May till the 22nd of May 2011. The workshop focusses on Radio and Audio Creation and ends with an Eco Time Conference with special guests.
