this is a schedule and a draft of what could become a collaborative and non-hierarchical wiki article
the idea of writing a text about creating something before you start to create something is a strange theoretical occupation that is equally strange to our way of working, in 2 ways:
- we don't want to lose ourself in abstractions, and stay closely bound to the provided parameters with which we work
- to be able to extend knowledge it has to be bound to some activity to start and end with
the question we are struggling with is a problem within creativity, at what point we can define new aesthetics, which is partly an evaluation problem, and related to that what is the role of subversivity within media arts. we assume that this would fall within something like 'emergent aesthetics', and as a second hypothesis we take it for granted that within a current timeframe, an ecological and environmental perception could lie at the basis of an essentially different kind of art in the near future
current popular aesthetics and topics, also within political-social motives target a superficial amoral acceptance of certain modes of operating, conform to everywhere around eu the seemingly victory of centralism/pragmatism/realpolitik…
the need for a change = the subversiveness of environmental/ecological art
the difficulty of understanding change = to think of what is now (not anymore) and yet not here (but about to come)
briefly it would be good to introduce the coming days' topics and see who is interested in looking at them differently
while last century was breaking down the idea of some poetica and unifying methodology, maybe it would be good to reflect about certain breaking points with a consolidating aesthetica, and not repeat but build on it.. some ideas that lead up to denouncing the normal (even within avantgarde or contemporary art).. and new aesthetics go together with the changes that occur within the disciplinary, so we believe that change can only occur if we act transversally.. that includes a methodological different approach, away from the current ways in which the arts are made up and make things
some backgrounds:
the three ecologies (guattari) that points to this idea of collective subjectiveness rereading robert smithson (with caution) methodological implications (niklas luhmann and paul rabinow)
having nothing to add, only to eliminate
essential motives for moving along within 2 years
integration, convergence of the program (no separate programs) collective subjectiveness (no individual works)
methodology → dissatisfaction with that is now artistic reasearch and its academic consolidation
emerging aesthetics and the impossibility of perceiving the new (perception) the anthropology of ignorance or experimental methodologies (methodology) first action then management (buck rodgers): making wind clocks, inventing wind time (artistic research)
documentation has to be approached within a different discussion, parallell to the construction of a new poetica
integrated into the artistic development (technological-contentwise) collective/subjective (parallell, distributed) as an action more than a reflection (buck rodgers)
